No matter how many times I check the weather page, it always says that the weather is going to SUCK for the next week.

Oh yeah - my child is preparing for his life of luxury - note the critical accessory in the lower left cup holder. I think he's going to gain this life through acting - note the 'does this zombie look good on me'. And of course, the brooding headshot. Those eyes - so sincere.

It's basically 8am, and I have been awake for 5 hours.

For once, not insomnia. At least, not MY insomnia. The last two nights, Ash has been banging on his door at odd times - 10pm, 11pm, etc. This morning, he started around 2:30am. zenhack went in to comfort him a couple of times, but at 3, I became awake, and there was no returning to sleep. So I gave Ash what he really wanted - parentbed. Not sleeping in our bed, but me, on the couch in his room, and him sleeping on me. He wasn't bad, but when he had to drag the stuffed dogs, sheets and blankets, it got a little crowded.

Anyrate, at least I went to bed early.

We are back home, alive, and with not much more than the usual family insanity. Whew.

Glad to see so many others of you have likewise survived.
5th-Dec-2009 01:35 pm - Say good bye, my baby...

We're cleaning out and renovating the basement apartment at our house, right? All the stuff down there has to fit upstairs. To help this happen, I am doing another round of purging, and this time, I'm cutting deep. Three tube tops (turquoise, black and peach) held from high school - bye... Various tank tops that are too small even if I lose that last 15lbs - bye... T-shirts from various holidays and volunteering - bye... (I still have the NCSSM RPGC shirt, though).

Turquoise leg warmers - true vintage 80s - bye.... They are actually hard to give up. If they stayed up better, I'd keep them, but the elastic is pretty close to shot. Really, they need to go. See, trash can - in they go!

Wah.

The books, otoh, are going to be boxed up into my office. Ones I read a lot in one book case, but the rest behind.

BTW - anyone need a small, free book case or a glass top coffee table (with metal legs)?

Saw a nifty chart of the same sex marriage debate on Facebook, and thought here was a better place to muse about one aspect:

Some Christians use Leviticus and other parts of the Old Testament to justify the stance that homosexuality is a sin, with all the resultant implications. But, didn't Jesus Christ say, "I am the new convenant" and "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." He didn't address homosexuality specifically at any point, but the general consensus is that the "new covenant" means that Jesus's rules override the prior rules (Leviticus & 10 commandments, et al). The golden rule pretty much covers commandments 4 through 10, anyway.

But if a heterosexual Christian is able to marry the adult person of his or her choice, then doesn't Jesus's golden rule REQUIRE them to allow others to do the same?

And does that make all the people who use Leviticus as justification Jewish? Or at least not 'real' Christians?

We're doing more remodeling (downstairs bath and maybe new flooring downstairs), and looking for recommendations. Anyone know:
- A bathroom remodeler (tiler, especially)
- someone who has had cork flooring installed (wondering about durability, online is mixed)

Happy Birthday, Malcolm!

I don't have a cute pic, though - we have been very lax in our picture taking lately.

So, Ash has been sick. Started a week ago Friday, and I had that one right along with him. Sucked - exhaustion, nausea, runny nose, fever. Brian caught it Tuesday and slept 30 of the next 48 hours. Ash seemed to get over it by Wednesday, so we let him go back to daycare on Thursday. Friday, his nose is running more. It eased up Saturday and Sunday, but this morning he scared the beejezus out of me. About 6am, he woke up, coughing and crying. He wasn't getting much air in, and he was shaking, so after a few minutes of holding him, laying him forward and patting his back, I headed out the door for the emergency room.

Five steps out the door, and he's breathing ok.

I slowed down and checked, and yeah, he really is breathing ok. He calms down, nose is runny, but everything seems to be working again. I head back in and start the day, though taking it a little easy - he's still in his pajama top at lunch. We did a little steam room in the bathroom, a little food, a lot of lap time. Headed to the doctor, and she said he's got croup. Alternating cold and warm air is the first step in treatment - check. We also got some drugs for the inflammation of vocal cords and ear infection, but he'll be at home for a few days. He seems mostly ok, but tired.

I am having a hard time concentrating.

On the lighter side, we've been singing to him every evening for hours - to the point where I just got some recordings of me singing and am playing them over and over. WotB is STUCK in my head FOREVER. He's also been hopping. I'd have video of Ash, zenhack and me in the kitchen hopping at each other, but we were busy at the time. Maybe we'll get someone to take it at Tgiving.

Like treeish, I have wandered into facebook. It is an unfun interface, but I found my Souixsin! I missed her. That alone makes it worth it.
